Santa is Real

This poem was recited by my grandfather every year on Christmas Eve. It has such great meaning. My pap suffers from Alzheimer's so the fact that he remembered this one last time for us to write it down is a gift from God. I just thought I would share it.

My brother, he got peeved at me. He hit me, too he did.
He said "You don't know very much, you're just a silly kid.
Why do you believe in Santa Claus and all such silly stuff?"
I went right to mother; I sure did call his bluff!
She said, "Sure there is a Santa, he's as real as real can be.
He's as real as faith, hope, love, kindness, and charity.
Just because you cannot see him, doesn't prove him to be untrue.
You can't see love either, but you know your mother loves you."

Isn't that the greatest????

Just thinking...

I have a lot on my mind today. I need so much to have a better prayer life. I have a new prayer journal (thank you to my Secret Sister at church) and have decided to put it to use. There are so many things I need to be in prayer about that I am not sure where to start.

Do you have a prayer journal or a prayer ritual you follow?

I am getting so excited about Black Friday...I know I am a dork. I can't wait for the excitement of hunting a bargain and shopping for the annual G.I.F.T.S. toy drive. I am so ready to be getting Christmas decorations out. I think if I push it up any earlier, Kevin will move out. I am up to the weekend before Thanksgiving as it is. However, Kevin goes hunting on the weekend of the 14th. If he isn't here, he isn't able to say "Wait, it's too early" now is he????

I love living in the mountains

We spent an evening at a pumpkin patch and corn maze. Here are some pictures of the kids and the farm.

The girls at Sarah's party. From L: Sarah Jo, Hannah and Lola. Lola is not happy about having her picture taken. However, notice the cute tutus that I made myself. Yeah, I am cool like that. :)

A side-view of Tyler's new mohawk! He is so proud of it!

Today is the perfect day.

It is cool and dreary, just like a good fall day should be. I am so ready for this time of year. I have a friend who hates this time of year. She thinks it represents everything dying. I think the opposite. I think it is like a shedding of old things to make way for the new things to come. Revelation 21:5 says "Behold, I make all things new." Bring it on!!

Sarah Jo turned 5 with as much fanfare as she could muster in her new "high heels" from her Nanny and the tutu from the party. :)

Tyler now has a mohawk and we painted the tips of it blue this morning and I am proud to say he walked into school so happy about it. He tends to be a follower so I am as tickled as I can be that he wasn't embarrassed about it. :)

It is time to start thinking about Christmas. What will Santa bring this year? How can I make this year more about Jesus and less about Santa? As a matter of fact, how can I make every day more about Jesus and less about, well, everything?

I am quite excited for the weekend and yet I dread it, too. We have lots of fun things to do this weekend but I know that I will be exhausted on Monday. But, thankfully, Monday is a holiday for me.
On Saturday, we are having a singing at Caney and our youth group is doing a thing called "Cardboard Testimonies". We ran through it on Wednesday night and I am beyond thrilled at how it turned out.
Sunday my Sarah Jo will have her 5th birthday. I don't know why but for some reason 5 is feeling really old for my middle child to be. It makes me kind of sad. She is so happy to be as old as Lola, even if for only a few months. Monday is her actual birthday and happy day for me-I don't have to work. Good ole Columbus Day. Gotta love those Federal Holidays!
The girls got new haircuts yesterday and Hannah's is now right at her chin and she looks adorable. They both think they look great. hehe
Have a fabulous weekend (Ambria)!! :)

Getting Started

Okay, I don't have a clue, and I do mean a clue as to what I am doing here. I know nothing about blogging other than I love to read other people's. I am also pretty sure that not too many people really want to read anything about my life.

However, here I am, in spite of all that.

I have come to the realization today that I have so many things to be thankful for in this chaotic life that I live. I don't appreciate them nearly enough. So, today I am making a list of ten things I love about my life.

Here goes:

1. I have a wonderful husband who is a great father to my children.

2. I have three perfect, healthy children.

3. I belong to the most perfect church for me! I love my church family.

4. I get to teach the most awesome group of teens at church. They inspire me every week.

5. God always provides my needs.

6. My mom rocks.

7. My in-laws are the greatest EVER!

8. I live in a country that allows me to worship my God!! Thank you, soldiers.

9. Tyler loves for me to walk him to class in the morning and still lets me kiss him on the head. :)

10. I was fearfully and wonderfully made and Jesus loves me for me.
